Garrotte is a method of execution by strangulation, when a noose of rope is put around the neck of the victim, which is twisted from behind. The rope slowly tightens around the neck, squeezing it harder and harder and cutting into the flesh. The victim suffers more painfully and for longer than in a normal hanging.
